The Story of Peggy

✨️THE STORY OF PEGGY✨️

The heart behind Peggy & Patch

Peggy was the youngest of eight children, growing up in the heart of Prince Edward County, Ontario, on a bustling dairy farm where days began with the lowing of cows and the clatter of milkpails.

She shared her childhood with my grandmother and their siblings, surrounded by fields, family, and the steady rhythm of farm life. Summers were magical - filled with early morning berry picking, fishing along quiet shores, and long swims at the Sandbanks Outlet.

Winters brought cross-country skiing through snow-covered trails and cozy horse-drawn sleigh rides, with cheeks pink from the cold and hearts full of joy. Life was simple, full of wonder, and stitched together with the kind of memories that never fade.

Peggy learned to bake at her mother's side, her small hands helping to knead dough and fill pies with hand-picked fruit. She was never afraid to roll up her sleeves - whether it was in the kitchen, the barn, or the classroom. She loved to sing, too - her voice always carried clear and sweet through the old farmhouse, and later through the pews of the church choir, where she sang with joy and devotion.
Eventually, Peggy moved to Toronto and became a teacher, touching the lives of countless children with her warmth, patience, and gentle spirit.

But no matter where life took her, Peggy carried the countryside with her. She had a deep love for sailing, and you could often find her sailing the waters of Lake Ontario, her eyes lit with adventure.
Peggy's life was a patchwork of beauty and practicality - of handcrafted joy, curiosity, and care.

At Peggy & Patch, we honor her legacy through every doll, every upcycled stitch, and every story we share. She reminds us that magic lives in the little things: in handmade treasures, in quiet kindness, in songs sung with love, and in the memories we carry - and pass on - through generations.
